Moin! Welcome! Hey! Hola!
My name is Ben, surname Thorsten. Welcome to my travel blog Ben travels around.
I live in a great little town with its own sea in north-west Germany and work as Team Lead Training and Coaching in SAP and Salesforce in the centre of Germany and anywhere in the world where electricity and internet access can be found.
Why a travel blog now?
I didn’t fly from 1989 to 2017! This was triggered by a traumatic experience on a Pan Am flight from Chicago to Frankfurt in January 1989, shortly after the bombing and total loss of the US airline’s Boeing 747-121 ‘Clipper Maid of the Seas’ on 21 December 1988. At the time, I vowed that I would get back on a big plane by my 50th birthday at the latest – I was joking, but it lasted until October 2017. But then a lot changed – after the first flight to Fuerteventura, I realised that flying was OK for me again and that I could also plan my travel destinations outside of car, train or bus journeys. Great! 🙂
I hope that she and you can sense my enjoyment of travelling as you read this and – if you can – that you will also go on the trip. Unfortunately, my wallet and holiday account of 30 days limit the frequency of travelling. However, I realise one thing time and time again…. no matter how beautiful and relaxing some trips are, my home is and remains the north-west of Germany – that’s where I come from, that’s where I belong.
So… I wish you lots of fun travelling with me!
Yours
Ben…. uhh… Thorsten
